The Faison Center Campuses At A Glance

The Faison Center operates two campuses serving more than 30 jurisdictions in Central Virginia and Tidewater. These campuses, located in Richmond and Newport News, both aim to create fulfilling lives for individuals across the lifespan.

Richmond Campus

With three academic and administrative buildings, a community center, an Outdoor Learning Center, and the Faison Residence, our Richmond campus is home to a majority of our programs and service offerings. Discover more about our Richmond campus’ buildings and offerings below.

Kirshner Mihaloff Hall

In May 2018, a new 18,000-square-foot wing was added to the original building of The Faison School. As we celebrated this first phase of the Forward Into the Future capital campaign, the entire building was dedicated as Kirshner Mihaloff Hall.

This expansion increased enrollment capacity to allow The Faison School to serve up to 200 students from over 35 jurisdictions across Virginia.

Flo and Tony Guzman Community Center

In May 2019, The Flo and Tony Guzman Community Center opened. This 10,000-square-foot community center was built to provide a place for our students to be active and a place for the surrounding community to gather for a myriad of events. Click here to learn more about our community center.

Markel Hall

Markel Hall was competed in 2020 as the third building added to the Richmond campus during the Forward into the Future capital campaign. A 16,000-square-foot two-story building, the second floor of Markel Hall is home to The Faison Center’s administrative offices. The first floor is home to Faison’s Early Education Center and includes a large outdoor playground specifically designed for the toddlers in that program.

Outdoor Learning Center

In May 2021, Faison’s Outdoor Learning Center (OLC) was built to serve all age groups and all programs.

The OLC is comprised of multiple activity stations that are constructed with materials found in nature like wood, rock, and sand. These stations support dynamic, gross motor activity and allow our staff to work with all who we serve on their sustained activity level, movement, balance, and endurance.

The Faison Residence

The Faison Residence features 45 apartments and can accommodate up to 24 adults with autism and other developmental disabilities who are generally independent but may need occasional assistance. Each room is equipped with smart home technology to unobtrusively monitor health and safety while also promoting independence. The remaining apartments are rented to the public, creating a truly integrative community. There is also a community room, a fitness room, and an outdoor patio.

Pioneer Hall

Completed in 2023, Pioneer Hall is the most recent addition to The Faison Center’s Richmond campus. Participants in Faison’s Adult Day program use the Paige Edmunds Clubhouse on the second floor as their home base between community-based field trips, and the Center-Based ABA program uses the first floor spaces to provide ABA therapy for school aged children.

Our Latest Addition - Pioneer Hall

Completed in 2023, Pioneer Hall is the most recent addition to The Faison Center’s Richmond campus and is the final project in the multi-year Forward Into the Future campaign. Watch a timelapse of the construction below.

Peninsula Campus

The Faison Center’s second campus is tucked away in the heart of Hampton Roads and hosts multiple programs for children and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities across the lifespan. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to provide high-quality autism services to the Peninsula Region, and we are grateful for the new families, communities, and partners this campus has allowed.

Peninsula School

In 2017, The Faison Center expanded its services with the Peninsula School in Newport News.

By 2019, the Peninsula School increased its enrollment capacity to 40 students and began to serve students from New Kent County to the City of Hampton. We are excited to continue to expand our reach in this community.
